On December 15th, 2023, the Canadian Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) issued RSS-102 Issue 6, namely "Radio Frequency (RF) Exposure Compliance of Radio Communication Equipment (All Frequency Bands)". RSS-102 is a standard specification for evaluating the radiation exposure compliance of wireless communication equipment in close use, which was enforced on December 15th, 2024. In other words, from December 15, 2024, ISED Canada will enforce the new version of the standard and only accept authentication applications based on RSS-102 Issue 6.
The standard points are as follows:
1. The new regulations have lowered the power threshold of SAR exemption test (frequency band above 2450MHz): < 3mW, and the subsequent BT cannot be exempted basically, so it is necessary to increase the BT SAR test;
2. The new regulations confirm the SAR test distance of mobile phones: the test distance of the Body Worn part must be consistent with that of Hotspot and less than or equal to 10mm;
3. The new regulations add 0mm Hand SAR test for mobile phone authentication, and the test volume is increased by nearly 50% compared with the old regulations, so the test time and cycle need to be increased simultaneously.
